WAYFINDER presents itself as a generative art game designed to guide users through a reflective journey characterized by cause-and-effect dynamics within a natural setting. By embodying the reciprocal connection between humans and the environment, players accompany a mystical figure across forests, grasslands, and tundra in pursuit of poetic tokens dispersed throughout the landscape. Upon activation, these tokens unveil concealed words carried by the wind, revitalizing the surrounding flora and fauna. Witness flowers blossoming at the figure's footsteps, leaves sprouting on once barren trees, and the emergence of birds and butterflies. Progressing on this excursion, the revealed words intertwine to form verses that convey our perpetual aspiration to immortalize nature's transient instants through poetry.

Each interaction with WAYFINDER resembles the transient and distinctive nature of the natural world itself. Proficiently utilizing procedural generation techniques, visual elements are dynamically crafted and delivered in real-time. Poetic lines are fashioned through a fusion of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and generative methodologies, offering myriads of potential permutations. Consequently, WAYFINDER embodies an evolving and emergent artistic creation teeming with boundless opportunities.

Challenging the boundary between a video game, animated short film, and interactive poem, WAYFINDER is a brainchild of artist and creative coder Matt DesLauriers, developed in collaboration with NFB.
